Edinburgh for Wally

I know a guy called Wally Eames. He was a great guy !! A true war hero and Romantic. He loved with all his heart and he loved for all his life. Not many people do that these days but he did. He loved for richer and for poorer and in sickness and in health. I wont pretend I know him well but I know him well enough.

He went through world war two with the eighth army. He is dad to three beautiful daughters. He met his wife in the field of war and took her home as his bride. I didn't know him long but he was kind to me. That meant a lot to me and always will. He was an old style hero with a love of Marmalade. He once took a trip across the desert to find some !! ( and came back) .

I'm proud to know him. I showed my pictures of me and the queen. He's daughter is my girlfriend. He could be kind or grumpy but always charming. Funny and honest with a quick wit. I know a guy called Wally and I miss him so !!!

Hi.
I stumbled upon this post about Wally Eames. This is a long shot: I guess thirty years ago, when I was a young lad (did I really type that) I was a member of St John Ambulance in SW Cornwall - a Wally Eames used to run camps for the youth groups and was an inspiring man who taught me many things, mostly good.
He also served in North Africa (he was notable for taking delight in encouraging youngsters to place their finger inside the hole in his leg from when wounded and also his complete lack of teeth (from the sand, he would explain).
He lived near Sennen and, whether the same or not, was a man I was proud to know.
